Chapter Twenty Two: You've Got a Friend In Me.

With the supposed abduction of her mother and the semi-abrupt leaving of her older sister, Addison was experiencing some upheaval in her young life.  It wasn't surprising then, that she occasionally escaped into worlds of her own creation.  Like Ainsley, Addison had an imaginary creature living under her bed.  Unlike Ainsley's "monster" this one did not disturb Bob and Eliza's sleep -much.  Rather, Addison reported that an alien named Bert had moved into the dark space.  She could be heard playing into the wee hours of some mornings.  Which sometimes made her tired for school.  Worse, she insisted that Bert needed to eat; and kept trying to sneak food off the family table to leave in her room for him.  A room she now had all to herself.

Luckily, classmates joined Addison at school throughout the year and she made some real friends. A lot of friends.  Where her sister before her had been academically inclined, Addison felt the best part about school was socialising.  The Pancakes probably should have nipped this in the bud, but they were more concerned that she was happy.  Truth be told, they also worried more about Ainsley, who they couldn't keep an eye on, than the youngling still safely under their roof.

The Pancakes settled into life in their reduced household.  Bob got stuck into chores.  There were leaves to rake, lawns to mow and still that awful plumbing to fix.  Bob began to install a few 'upgrades' to try and keep things working as they should.
